Happy Happy Birthday Birthday! Two Turn One

April 30, 2012

I got together with some new friends who were newly one and it was just so nice.  You know I’m partial to twins and to twin boys in particular, so I had a lovely time with these cute little men, C + L.  This dynamic duo are so sweet and think balloons are just about the most fun thing ever (and who could blame them?).  C+L’s entourage (their mom and dad) joined in on the fun, too…after all, they were celebrating completing their first year as twinparents in addition to the birthday boys’ birthday.

Hope it was a really happy birthday (x two), y’all!

TM Portrait Party ~ Raleigh Family Photographer

October 12, 2011

We had another great year for the TriangleMommies’ Portrait Party! It was a fun morning for me (and for y’all, as well, I’m hoping…) and I wanted to share a few of my favorite moments.

2010 in Review: Favorites (2/3)

January 13, 2011

Continuing to look back at some favorites from the past year…

Sweetness on a Sunny Morning ~ Raleigh Family Photographer

December 6, 2010

A few days ago, I posted some images of little Mr. E (perhaps better known as the one with the big blue eyes), and at that time I promised more photos from our get-together.  And here is where I deliver on that promise.  Mr. E. comes by his sweetness and sunny disposition the old-fashioned way: his parents.  They rate pretty high on that sweet scale, too, with their hugs and laughter aplenty.

And in a what-a-small-world-we-live-in moment, it turns out that E’s mama attended the very same elementary school that my boys are now going to for Kindergarten. Isn’t that fun?

I loved getting to see this sweet family again recently…I last visited with them just about a year ago, but you know how much a little boy can grow in one short year! As promised, my little friend E is completely grown up now, but just as adorable as he was a year ago.

Don’t worry, he wasn’t wandering around all by his lonesome…I’ll have more to share from his family session in the coming days!

Catching Up with an Old Friend ~ Raleigh Child Photographer

November 29, 2010

Lucky me! I got to visit with an old friend, young Miss R, recently. We got together just about a year ago at the Rose Gardens in Raleigh, and I was so very happy to get to see her again this fall.

I tell you, though, it is pretty amazing to see how much she’s grown up in the space of one short year.  I swear, next thing I know, I’ll turn around and she’ll be driving.

Trunks Full of Treats ~ Triangle Family Photographer

October 27, 2010

For several years now, TriangleMommies has been hosting a wonderful event for members and their families:  Trunk or Treat.  It’s a great opportunity for the younger children to get dressed up and go trick-or-treating, but in a safe and fun environment…and during daytime hours.  With Trunk or Treat, instead of going door-to-door, the kids go from car trunk-to-trunk.  Members of TriangleMommies decorated their car trunks and handed out candy, and everyone enjoyed music, cakewalks, and ice cream.  And I was there, armed with my camera, tripod, and a few bales of hay, so that families could have photos that included Mom (instead of having her be the one to take the photos, as happens in most households these days, it seems).

Friends from TriangleMommies: don’t forget to check the Mommy Forum for links and password to this year’s photo gallery, where you can download your family’s Trunk or Treat photo for free! That is no trick, either. Happy Halloween!

Hurry Back, State Fair ~ Raleigh Childrens Photography

October 25, 2010

We live rather close to the State Fairgrounds in Raleigh, and while sometimes it’s inconvenient (oh the traffic) and noisy (fireworks every night, upsetting the dog, who thinks it’s a thunderstorm), we’re always glad when the calendar shows it’s time for the North Carolina State Fair. Sure, the rides are fun and the pig races are hilarious to watch, but in the end, I think it just boils down to this:  Fair food rocks our world.  Deep-fried Oreos, funnel cake, giant grilled turkey legs, roasted corn on the cob, deep-fried cheesecake, alligator-on-a-stick, and of course corndogs.  There’s nothing like a State Fair corndog, y’all.

Yesterday, the State Fair closed up shop for the year, returning our neighborhood, lives, and diets to normal.  See you next year, State Fair!

A (Photographers’) Day at the Beach

October 24, 2010

When you live within a few hours’ drive of the beach, doesn’t it seem almost like you are obligated by law to go on a daytrip to the beach every once in a while? That’s what I was thinking, too. So that’s just what I did with a bunch of photographer friends:  we hit the beach on a lovely October afternoon with our cameras all charged up and ready to go. We had such luck, too…all of these happy smiley families that we know happened to be there at the same time! ;)   An amazing coincidence, to be sure.

Many thanks to our lovely models and the weather for cooperating.

Oh Happy Day ~ Raleigh Family Photographer

October 22, 2010

Recently, I had a little getaway weekend.  I’d call it a Girls’ Weekend since I stayed with my dear college roommate and visited with lots of friends, but it also happened to be my dear college roommate’s wedding weekend so I guess I can’t actually say it was just a girls thing. At any rate, we had a lovely, fantastic, happiness-filled, wonderful time helping Erin and Sam celebrate their wedding and I–to absolutely no one’s surprise–happened to bring my camera along.

Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs! But, Sam, I’m not sure you’ll be included in the next Girls’ Weekend. ;)
