Pugs are definitely an acquired taste. Don’t tell our pug this, but up until the boys and I spotted her at the animal shelter four years ago, I was in the “Pugs Are Seriously Ugly” Camp. But for whatever reason, when we walked past her at the animal shelter and she looked up at us with her big brown eyes, I immediately switched allegiances to the “Pugs Are Seriously Adorably Ugly” Camp. We named her Sezen (after how our boys then pronounced the number “seven”) and she’s been an adorably ugly member of our household ever since then.
She’s good with the children, sweet as anything, devoted to my mom, sleeps on the back of the couch like a cat, and snores so loudly you sometimes mistake it for someone running a snowblower outside (even in summer). I wanted to be sure to get some seriously ugly puggle cuteness in as my I Heart Faces Pets entry.

Acquired taste, indeed! But they are always serious and dignified…
